South Asian Community “Right to Vote” Annual Celebration 2024

The South Asian community won the right to vote in British Columbia on April 2, 1947. The Dr. Hari Sharma Foundation commemorated this historic day by organizing an event in Surrey, BC. on Saturday April 6, 2024, honouring Sadhu Binning, Community Activist and Punjabi Author; Am Johal, Director, Simon Fraser University's Vancity Office of Community Engagement; Harsha Walia, Community Activist; and South Asian Network for Secularism and Democracy (SANSAD).

Over 65 people were in attendance and music was provided by Indo-Jazz Fusion Artist and Vancouver Jazz Festival Favourite, Shruti Ramani, and Pianist Noah Franche-Nolan.
